Kula Botanical Gardens can be found upcountry on the way to Haleakala. This is such a beautiful and peaceful place and definitely worth the trip. There are so many amazing plants and flowers here, plus birds of many types and some fish.
They even have two Nene, the Hawaiian state bird, which are rare to see.
To get there take the highway towards the airport, turn on Hansen near the sugar mill, then take highway 37 up Haleakala past the town of Kula and turn left onto highway 377 (Kekaulike Rd) go just a short distance and you will see the entrance.
